Donald Trump often talks about his run for president being a movement and while there may be debate over the nature of that movement, there is little doubt that he’s made eschewing political correctness a popular sentiment in the world.
Just look to Germany, where Chancellor Angela Merkel’s deputy, Sigmar Gabriel, was captured on video giving a one-finger salute to a group of neo-Nazi protesters.
The vice-chancellor was attending a campaign event Friday when he was confronted by protesters who called him a “race traitor” and a “communist,” according to The Guardian.
Gabriel is seen laughing in the video just before giving the group a middle finger and turning away.
“Your father loved his country, and what do you do? You destroy it,” the neo-Nazis said in reference to Gabriel’s father, a noted Nazi sympathizer.
Gabriel, described as a “centre-left politician,” said several years back that he broke off contact with his father after learning of his Nazi beliefs when he was 18, the Guardian reported.
