Donald Trump made an appeal to black voters – so, how did they respond?

Donald Trump made an appeal to black voters on Tuesday by pointing out what should be obvious — Democrats have abysmally failed the black community.

“The Democratic Party has failed and betrayed the African-American community,” he said.

Trump called for the riots in Milwaukee over the death of Sylville Smith, at the hands of a black police officer, to stop.

“The main victims of these riots are law-abiding African-American citizens living in these neighborhoods,” he told the crowd in West Bend, Wisconsin. “It’s their job, it’s their homes, it’s their schools and communities which will suffer the most as a result. There’s no compassion in tolerating lawless conduct for anyone.”

And he took direct aim at his opponent.

“We reject the bigotry of Hillary Clinton which panders to and talks down to communities of color and sees them only as votes, not as individual human beings worthy of a better future,” he said. “She doesn’t care at all about the hurting people of this country, or the suffering she has caused them.”

Many black voters, even some who don’t support Trump, agree that Democrats have failed their community.
