Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, but a new study shows that this assertion may not hold true for minorities.
A University of North Carolina study published in June found that “voluntary infanticide” — see abortion — is the leading cause of death among African Americans and Hispanics, according to IJ Review.

Abortions are not taken into account by the federal government when calculating mortality statistics, but the scientists involved in the study said this decision “undermines the role of science”… it’s a good thing the left values science.
“The appropriate role of science is to inform this societal dialogue with objective information,” the authors of the study wrote. “Labeling abortion as a preventable death is not an argument for restricting access to a legal abortion. However, refusing to acknowledge abortion as a death undermines the role of science and the value of transparency so fundamental to a free society.”
IJ Review shared some of the details of the UNC study:
In their study, researchers compared the latest pregnancy, abortion, and death data recorded by the CDC, the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), and the Guttmacher Institute in 2009, which painted a pretty stark picture.
Of the 3,589,163 deaths across all races and ethnicities, 61.1% were attributed to abortion among African Americans and 64% among Hispanics. Non-Hispanic Whites reportedly had an abortion death rate of 16.4%.
“Abortion as a death is an inconvenient and uncomfortable truth for pro-abortion advocates,” James Studnicki, one of the co-authors of the study, told Campus Reform.
Studnicki said the results of the study are proving to be unpopular among those who “overwhelmingly support legal abortion.”
“The academic community has greeted this research with profound silence because any debate about the paper would give it a higher visibility — and this is something that the majority of academic/science/public health ‘thought leaders’ want to avoid at all costs.”
