Perhaps things weren’t all that hunky-dory after all.
In response to a New York Times article Sunday alleging that Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Paul Manafort, received millions of dollars in ill-gotten goods — see cash payments — from former Ukrainian President Viktor F. Yanukovych, Manafort’s predecessor took to social media to share the news.
Corey Lewandowski, who was fired as Trump’s campaign manager in June and supposedly left on good terms, posted on Twitter:
Secret Ledger in Ukraine Lists Cash for Donald Trump’s Campaign Chief https://t.co/7bh7iIHHaY
— Corey R. Lewandowski (@CLewandowski_) August 15, 2016
The tweet just might prove the belief that few among us want to see their successor do better than they did when leaving under adverse circumstances, but more importantly, Lewandowski’s post resulted in a firestorm of responses, beginning with Trump loyalist Roger Stone.
All in all, it shows how tangled the web can become in a modern-day presidential campaign… and that Lewandowski just became a target-rich environment. Again.
Here’s a sampling of responses from Twitter:
