The legal watchdog Judicial Watch says Congress is apparently not interested in federal misconduct that has been revealed as a result of the group’s investigations.
After multiple Freedom of Information Act lawsuits over several years, the group has uncovered an enormous amount of information from Hillary Clinton’s time as secretary of state.
But Congress has been “AWOL” on the revelations according to Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton.
“We have not had any interest from members of Congress in our work,” Fitton on Thursday told CNSNews.com, adding that he was not surprised by that fact.
“Congress as an institution is AWOL on almost all significant investigations of misconduct by the federal government,” he said.
The revelations uncovered information on Clinton’s use of a private email server to conduct government business, the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya and recently 296 pages of previously unreleased State Department records. This included emails that Clinton failed to turn over last year even though she said she had.
“Whether they’re incapable or unwilling or too conflicted or compromised, they are not conducting investigations of any significant nature. So we keep on doing our work independent of Congress,” Fitton said.
He was not surprised that former Clinton aide Huma Abedin was allowed to work at the Clinton Foundation and a consulting firm connected to the Clinton family while she was also employed at the State Department.
“I was not surprised at all, and this is the tip of the iceberg, I guarantee you,” he told CNS.
