WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange said that the the treasure trove of Democratic National Committee emails hacked by GUCCIFER 2.0 weren’t published with the intention of harming Hillary Clinton’s campaign for the presidency.
“When we published the DNC leaks, the New York Times, which picked it’s favorite candidate … said that I intended to harm Hillary Clinton,” Assange told the Green Party’s convention Saturday through a video feed at about the 11:08 mark.
“This is what we’ve been doing for 10 years,” he told the convention delegates. “It was a completely fabricated story.”
He told the convention-goers that WikiLeaks doesn’t target individuals — it’s all about publishing the truth.
“We are very interested in power and publishing the truth about power so people can work out however they choose so they can reform power.”
As Assange noted at about the 3:21 mark, the emails WikiLeaks released revealed a pattern of DNC officials taking steps to sabotage Clinton’s major rival for the Democratic nomination — Sen. Bernie Sanders. That discovery also led to DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s resignation.
Folks on social media weren’t necessarily buying what Assange was selling.
