The war dead’s names were read at Democratic convention, but then came the heckling

While the 2012 Democratic National Convention is remembered as the time Democrats booed God, the 2016 convention may go down as the time the party heckled America’s war dead.

Retired four-star Gen. John Allen and Medal of Honor recipient Florent Groberg took to the stage in Philadelphia on Thursday to show support for Hillary Clinton. They were heckled by delegates who began chanting “No more war!

But adding insult to injury, the delegates continued to heckle as Groberg began reading the names of four Americans who died in Afghanistan the day he took on a suicide bomber — the dead Americans were Sgt. Maj. Kevin J. Griffin, Maj. Thomas E. Kennedy, Air Force Maj. Walter D. Gray and foreign service officer Ragaei Abdelfattah.

Naturally, the media largely downplayed the slight, but the conservative website Progressive Today took notice in a tweet that included the sarcastic caption: “I’m sick & tired of people who say if you heckle the reading of fallen soldiers names somehow you’re not patriotic.”
