Donald Trump was named the Republican nominee last week, but a Google search earlier this week for presidential candidates did not include his name.
Searching Google for the term “presidential candidates” immediately brought up pictures of Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, who is no longer an active candidate and Green Party candidate Jill Stein, WCMH-TV reported.
Donald Trump was conspicuously absent from the search results.
After the station reached out to Google, Trump was added back to the search, as was Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson, who had not made the cut earlier.
Google blamed the search problem on a “technical bug.”
“We found a technical bug in Search where only the presidential candidates participating in an active primary election were appearing in a Knowledge Graph result,” a Google spokesperson told WCMH. “Because the Republican and Libertarian primaries have ended, those candidates did not appear. This bug was resolved early this morning.”
