Country music duo Florida Georgia Line insist they aren’t anti-police, but their odd request last weekend at Kenosha Wisconsin’s Country Thunder Musical Festival definitely stepped on the WRONG toes.
Prior to the festival, both Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth and Jones County Sheriff Greg Graver confirmed to FOX411 that a band representative specifically requested that no law enforcement be allowed backstage while the duo was “on the grounds.”
Festival management ended up denying this request because of security concerns, but nobody knows why it was made in the first place. Sheriff Graver said he was told that “Florida Georgia Line didn’t want any law enforcement behind before, during or after the show,” and that, based on his experience, the request was not “normal.”
In a perfect twist of irony, however, Graver was given the delicious opportunity to DENY the band’s request for an after-concert police escort.
The sheriff told Fox411, “Part of it was because we’re busy, and part of it was I didn’t talk to them directly and I wished they would have reached out to me. They didn’t want us backstage so we just opted out of the escort. It’s not something that we’re mandated to do.”
For their part, the band insists they aren’t anti-law enforcement and used Twitter to issue the following statement:
