A Chicago Black Lives Matter activist argued on “The Kelly File” Wednesday that the solution to the slaughter of police officers in Dallas as well as alleged improper use of police shootings is to disband the police entirely.
“Here are the solutions,” Activist Jessica Disu said. “We need to abolish the police, period. Demilitarize the police, disarm the police, and we need to come up with community solutions for transformative justice.”
Her solution drew some shocked reactions from other panelists, which included police officers, Black Lives Matter activists, religious leaders and political commentators.
Her assertion was prompted, in part, by host Megyn Kelly’s statement that although most people were horrified by the Dallas tragedy, there were some who had little sympathy for the dead police, and viewed the shooter as a martyr.
“Who’s going to protect the community if we abolish the police?” Kelly asked.
“We need to come up with community solutions. The police force in this country began as slave patrol,” Disu, who described herself as a community organizer said.
When she claimed earlier in the segment that Black Lives Matter activists have never called for violence against law enforcement officers, Kelly shot back a chant at a New York BLM rally, “What do we want? Dead Cops! When do we want them? Now!”
Disu didn’t have an answer for that one.
