Corey Lewandowski was reportedly ousted as Donald Trump’s campaign manager at the behest of Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, but was an alleged $1.2 million book deal also a motivating factor for his departure?
Sources claim that publishing giant HarperCollins offered Lewandowski $1.2-million to write a book — tentatively titled “Let Trump be Trump” — that chronicles his time at the head of Trump’s campaign, Politico reported.
Lewandowski was allegedly shopping the book with several publishers before the deal was struck, but the sources say HarperCollins was nervous about Lewandowski’s nondisclosure agreement in effect with Trump and backed off — the sources claim Lewandowski revived those talks last week after being fired as Trump’s campaign manager.
Now with CNN, Lewandowski denied the claims and said he never shopped a book deal and doesn’t have an agent doing so on his behalf.
“There is no contract for me. I have never seen it,” he said Tuesday, according to Politico.
Any hopes for a deal supposedly fell apart in May after BuzzFeed News reported that Lewandowski was working on a book, which prompted him to issue a denial on social media:
Despite false reports to the contrary, I am not writing a book. I am under a strict confidentiality agreement with Mr. Trump.

Reports suggested that Ivanka Trump had been trying to convince her father to fire Lewandowski for months before finally giving him an ultimatum: it’s him or me.
It appears that not wanting Lewandowski around is becoming a trend, as Page Six reported on Friday that CNN’s “facing a near internal revolt” over him being hired.
“CNN is facing a near internal revolt over the Corey hiring,” said a TV insider, who described many in the newsroom as “livid.” “Female reporters and producers especially . . . They are organizing and considering publicly demanding” that Lewandowski be let go.
Page Six noted that a source said Lewandowski is being paid as $500,000, although a CNN spokesperson denied the claim.
