Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has added a new communications director to his campaign team.
Jason Miller, former senior communications advisor for Texas Senator Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign, will take charge over the campaign’s messaging and dealings with the media, according to Bloomberg. Miller, currently a partner at a Washington-based campaign consulting firm, has also worked on campaigns for Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin, South Carolina Congressman Mark Sanford, and Rudy Giuliani’s 2008 presidential bid.
Along with last week’s firing of campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s staff changes indicate a move to shift into more conventional campaign operations.
Miller’s addition will provide the assistance that campaign aides have wanted for press secretary Hope Hicks, who has carried the bulk of the work on her own, Bloomberg reports.
Cruz insiders indicated that Miller’s addition to the Trump team was an independent decision and was not connected to the Texas senator, who has not yet endorsed Trump.
