President Obama hopes not to drop the ball with dream job after leaving White House

If President Barack Obama does for basketball what he did for the U.S. economy, hoops fans may be in trouble.

With the days counting down until the end of his final term — 209 days, 17 hours, 36 minutes and 40 seconds, not that we’re counting — Obama has already said that he will remain in Washington so his younger daughter, Sasha, can finish high school.

But at a youthful age of 54, what will he do with all the idle time soon to be on his hands?

White House press secretary Josh Earnest dropped a hint about a possible option… The Washington Post reported:

There has been plenty of speculation about how President Obama, who is only 54, will pass the time when he leaves the White House. White House press secretary Josh Earnest added one more possibility to the list: NBA owner.

The proclamation came with a lot of caveats: “potentially, if the opportunity arose, under the right circumstances.”

Earnest, though, was clear on one point: The president has “discussed” being part of an NBA franchise ownership group.

 

Considering the average NBA team is worth over $1 billion and Obama’s current net worth is somewhere between $2 million and $7 million, you can be sure he will be a small part of any ownership group.

And while the president clearly loves the game of basketball — Obama stayed aboard Air Force One after landing to watch the end of the NBA Finals — and would be a public relations boon for any team, there is a reason he’s called “Brick House” Obama:
