Chicago police were searching for Sinead O’Connor after being alerted that the singer threatened to jump off of a bridge.

Police in Ireland called the Chicago Police Department on Thursday alerting them that the 49 year-old had threatened suicide, according to NBC 5. Police then issued an all points bulletin to be on the lookout for O’Connor who could possibly jump from a Chicago bridge.

Scanner audio from the police was obtained by TMZ.

Coincidentally, a man in his 50s was threatening to jump off the bridge at Armitage Thursday, NBC 5 reported, but police were able to rescue him.

O’Connor made headlines last month when she was reported missing by friends and family who feared her depression would lead to suicide. She was later found safe at a Chicago area hotel. The Irish singer has battled with depression and has made several attempts at suicide, NBC 5 reported.

O’Connor rose to fame in the late 1980’s, reaching worldwide success with her 1990 rendition of the Prince song “Nothing Compares 2 U”.

Known as much for controversy as her musical career and shaved head, the Grammy-nominated singer made headlines with her very vocal views on organised religion, war, women’s rights, and child abuse.

Although police are not engaged in an active search for O’Connor, they were told to be on the lookout, according to TMZ.
