That Hillary Clinton has little respect for the American people was demonstrated in spades Thursday when she and Donald Trump traded barbs on LGBT issues.
During a Dallas speech Thursday, Trump referred to the well-publicized multi-million dollar donations the Clinton Foundation has continued to accept from misogynistic, anti-gay Middle Eastern countries.
“They kill gays in these countries,” the presumptive Republican presidential nominee said, according to The Hill. “So you tell me who’s better for the gay community and who’s better for women than Donald Trump?”
The conclusion was pretty straightforward.
“LGBT is starting to like Donald Trump very much lately, I will tell you, starting to like Donald Trump very, very much lately,” Trump said.
CNN correspondent Phil Mattingly reported:

And Clinton responded to Mattingly — as if to say, hey, over here!

However, on the issue of gay rights — and every other issue — the American public has a long memory, and that memory includes her and her husband’s support for the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act — or DOMA.
DOMA, which then-President Bill Clinton signed into law on September 21, 1996, prohibited the federal government from recognizing same-sex marriages.
When Clinton was called out on her support for DOMA, she told MSNBC host Rachel Maddow that it was meant to thwart GOP efforts for a constitutional amendment that would ban gay marriages.
“On Defense of Marriage, I think what my husband believed — and there was certainly evidence to support it — is that there was enough political momentum to amend the Constitution of the United States of America, and that there had to be some way to stop that,” she said, beginning at about the one-minute mark.

But that interpretation of events appears to be another Clinton exercise in revisionist history. The Daily Caller reported:
But those who were familiar with deliberations in the Clinton White House say that that’s not what happened. Clinton’s presidential papers also show no evidence that fear of a constitutional amendment factored into support for the bill. Instead, Clinton signed DOMA when it landed on his desk — it passed both houses of Congress with ease — because it was politically convenient and because he was publicly opposed to gay marriage.

Perhaps Clinton’s memory is a bit jarred from that Bosnian sniper attack that didn’t actually happen when she was first lady.
