After calling the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server a “criminal investigation,” now the White House is backing off the statement with a “clarification” beyond belief.
White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest called Clinton’s investigation a “criminal investigation,” something democrats and the Clinton campaign have refused to call it. But, those words were soon taken back by Earnest, according to the Washington Examiner.
Asked whether he had simply misspoken because the comment had “raised some eyebrows,” Earnest shot back: “It seems to have raised some eyebrows at the Republican National Committee.”
He then added: “I have no insight into that because I’m not getting any sort of briefings from the Department of Justice about that ongoing investigation.”
Earnest claimed that his use of the term “criminal investigation” was only because President Obama has “complete confidence” in the Dept of Justice.
“These are individuals who understand that they should not be swayed by anything the president has to say,” Earnest said. “The president of the United States wants them and has confidence that they will in fact pursue the facts, follow the evidence and lead to the conclusion that is supported by the facts and the evidence.”
New revelations into Clinton’s email scandal have shed light on just how criminal her actions may have been.
Despite saying repeatedly that she never sent information that was marked “Classified,” Clinton did in fact send emails that were marked “Classified” through her private email server.
The “C” – which means it was marked classified at the confidential level – is in the left-hand-margin and relates to an April 2012 phone call with Malawi’s first female president, Joyce Banda, who took power after the death of President Mutharika in 2012.
“(C) Purpose of Call: to offer condolences on the passing of President Mukharika and congratulate President Banda on her recent swearing-in.”
Everything after that was fully redacted before it was publicly released by the State Department — a sign that the information was classified at the time and dealt with sensitive government deliberations.
A source with the US government told Fox News that there are more emails that were marked “Classified” when they were sent and passed around through Clinton’s private email server.
