It’s a good thing Donald Trump is wrapping the nomination process up early, because now he can plan one heck of a party in Cleveland at the Republican National Convention. Plans have been in the works for a while, and if the likely venue for Trump’s acceptance speech is any indication the event will be one for the ages.
Two GOP sources have told CNN the speech could be at one of Cleveland’s largest sports venues, either First Energy Stadium, home of the NFL’s Cleveland Browns, or Progressive Field, home of Major League Baseball’s Cleveland Indians. According to one of the sources, the campaign is close to signing a contract, and the favorite for Trump’s speech is First Energy Stadium, which seats almost 70,000 people.
A Trump campaign adviser told CNN, “It’s going to be a big production. Given Trump’s profile and how he handles things, nothing is off the table,” adding that Trump would be “intimately involved in” the planning.
Whatever the arena size, it will certainly be packed to the gills and hopping with excitement. If Trump, as promised, adds some “Hollywood flair” to the convention and especially his final speech, it will be a spectacle to rival then Senator Obama’s speech at Denver’s Invesco Field in 2008.
Let’s just hope they leave out the Greek columns.
