Comedian Chelsea Handler has joined the growing list of entertainers who’ve promised to leave the United States should Donald Trump become president — and she’s taken it one step further.
She already purchased a home in Spain if the presumptive Republican presidential nominee wins in November.
“I did buy a house in another country just in case, so all of these people that threaten to leave the country and then don’t, I will leave the country,” she announced Wednesday on “Live With Kelly and Michael.”
Then she joked that her decision may take a decisively more permanent turn.
“After Barack Obama, I’m just going to blow my head up” Handler joked.
“Don’t do anything drastic,” Kelly Ripa said.
She also indicated that she’d met Trump once at a restaurant, and that he’d “almost charmed” her.
“I met him once. He came up to me at a restaurant in Los Angeles,” she said. “And he’s very tall and I like tall men and I remember going, ‘You’re not nearly as disgusting as I thought you were.’ I almost was charmed. Almost. So he’s dangerous.”
As others have opined, she said that she didn’t believe Trump thought his campaign would go as far as it has.
“I don’t think he was really ready to take the job. He just loves attention and he loves to talk about himself,” she said. “Now I think he’s thinking ‘oh, whoa, we better get this under control.’ I mean he can’t possibly be really trying to be elected to become president. That doesn’t make any sense.”
The same could be said of Obama.
