Hillary Clinton told a Sunday show audience that she has been hearing from Republicans interested in supporting her bid for president ever since Donald Trump because the presumptive GOP nominee last week.

“For a lot of people, again, who take their vote seriously and who really see this as a crossroads kind of election, I am asking people to come join this campaign,” she told CBS’ “Face the Nation” in an interview on Friday in Oakland, Calif. “And I’ve had a lot of outreach on Republicans in the last days who say that they are interested in talking about that.”

Clinton also promised on the show not to run an “ugly” race against Trump.

“I’m not going to run an ugly race. I am going to run a race based on issues,” she said. “And what my agenda is to the American people. I don’t really feel like I’m running against Donald Trump. I feel like I’m running for my vision of what our country can be.”

When she was asked if she was making claims about whether Trump would be a “stable” president, Clinton explained, “I am talking about what he has said in this campaign, and continues to say, and the kind of agenda he’s putting forth for our country which obviously I think would, you know, not be in the best interest,” Clinton said.

Hillary also addressed the fracture in the Republican party “The Republicans themselves are raising questions about their presumptive nominee. And I think that’s in large measure, John, because they do understand how hard the job of being president is,” she said. “When you have former presidents, when you have high-ranking Republican officials in Congress raising questions about their nominee–I don’t think it’s personal, so much as rooted in their respect for the office and their deep concern about what kind of leader he would be.”

The Freedom Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Therefore we do not endorse political candidates either in primary or general elections. However, as defenders of America’s social contract, we insist that the rules laid down by both parties at the outset of campaigns be respected, and that the results be decided by free elections. We will oppose any attempt to rig the system and deny voters of either party their constitutional right to elect candidates of their choice.
