Country music legend Dolly Parton had a special announcement this week, though some fans may have been confused.

The iconic country star is approaching her 50th wedding anniversary with husband Carl Dean on May 30. And what better way to celebrate than to get married… again.

“We’re going to get married again!” Parton told People magazine. “I’ll have a beautiful wedding dress, ’cause I didn’t have a big, long wedding dress when we got married and we’ve got a suit for him, so we’re going to dress up and take a bunch of pictures.”

The couple first met at the Wishy Washy Laundromat on Parton’s first day in Nashville in 1964. They married two years later in Georgia, just before Parton’s first album release and with her mother as the only witness.

Dean has largely stayed out of Parton’s limelight, quietly running his own business while being supportive of his superstar wife. “He doesn’t particularly care about being around anybody but me,” Parton told People. “He’s just always asked me to leave him out of all this. He does not like all the hullabaloo.”

Parton, who is releasing the autobiographical movie “Coat of Many Colors” on DVD this week, turned 70 in January. “In my mind I think I’m the same age I was when I came to Nashville,” she said.

Photos from the upcoming wedding will be sold to benefit Parton’s  literacy charity, Imagination Library.
