We now know what the Obama administration’s excuse will be.

CIA Director John Brennan told NBC News’ Chuck Todd Sunday that the 28 still-classified pages of the bipartisan congressional report on the 9/11 terror attack should remain classified, because it’s filled with “uncorroborated, un-vetted information.”

He told Todd on “Face The Nation” that if the 28 pages were released to the public, people may use that ”information to point to Saudi involvement, which I think would be very, very inaccurate.”

A campaign to release the secret portion of the report began last month with comments made by former Sen. Bob Graham. The Florida Democrat said on CBS News’ “60 Minutes” that he believed that those undisclosed pages pointed to Saudi support for the hijackers.

“There are a lot of rocks out there that have been purposefully tamped down, that if were they turned over, would give us a more expansive view of the Saudi role,” Graham said on the “60 Minutes” interview.

Brennan disagreed.

“I’m quite puzzled by Sen. Graham and others,” the director said.

“They came out with a very clear judgment that there was no evidence that indicated that the Saudi government as an institution, or Saudi officials individually, had provided financial support to al-Qaeda.”

Nonetheless, 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi citizens.

If Brennan is correct, that the report clearly exonerates Saudi officials, then there should be no harm in releasing it.

Fox News reported:

Brennan’s comments came as lawmakers are considering a bill that would permit terrorism victims to sue foreign states that helped fund or otherwise support attacks in the U.S. The legislation is opposed by the Obama administration and the Saudi government has threatened to sell off hundreds of billions of dollars in American assets if it passes.
