Study claims these 10 states have taken in most Somali refugees; more to come

Somali Muslim refugees are coming to the United States in record numbers, and that number is only going to increase.

Through 2015 and the beginning of the 2016 Fiscal Year, more than 130,000 Somali Muslim refugees have been resettled into the country by the Refugee Admissions Program, but it doesn’t include asylum seekers or migrants who are in the country illegally, according to a new report by the Refugee Resettlement Watch (RRW) blog.

That is a whopping 750 Somali Muslim refugees being admitted to the US every month, the RRW report found.

Where exactly are all of these refugees headed? Already, these 10 states have taken in the most refugees out of all states in the country and more refugees are expected over the course of the next year.

Take a look to see if you’re near a Somali refugee resettlement:

  • Minnesota (563)
  • New York (410)
  • Arizona (301)
  • Ohio (292)
  • Texas (276)
  • Pennsylvania (222)
  • Washington (214)
  • Massachusetts (211)
  • Missouri (204)
  • California (176)
