Recording artists Bruce Springsteen and Bryan Adams have some ‘splaining to do.
Both rockers canceled performances in response to laws in North Carolina and Mississippi that are perceived by the left to be anti-LGBT, but their actions serve to expose their own hypocrisy, prompting Twitchy.com to ponder whether Springsteen and Adams will have to boycott themselves.
Springsteen cancelled a concert in North Carolina over its law banning men from accessing women’s bathrooms.
“Some things are more important than a rock show and this fight against prejudice and bigotry — which is happening as I write — is one of them,” the rocker said.
Adams followed suit, canceling a Mississippi concert due to the state’s new law that allows religious groups and some private businesses to withhold services due to deep moral objections.
“I cannot in good conscience perform in a State where certain people are being denied their civil rights due to their sexual orientation. Therefore I’m canceling my 14 April show at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum,” he wrote on Instagram.
But the rocker apparently has no qualms about performing in Middle Eastern countries where homosexuals are regularly abused and even jailed simply for being homosexual.
As for Springsteen’s hypocrisy, the Heritage Foundation explained it best.
“Bruce Springsteen is exercising freedom of conscience by boycotting states that sought to protect the consciences of adoption agencies, religious schools, bakers, and florists,” Heritage noted. “Doesn’t he see the hypocrisy?”

The reaction on social media seems to suggest that both aging musicians might be better served to set aside their left-wing idealism and stick to the music.
Here’s a sampling of responses from Twitter:
