Sometimes it’s easy to spot good parenting.
A Lakewood, Colorado police officer got a very special surprise while standing in line at a Chick-fil-A restaurant.
While waiting to order dinner last Friday, Officer Ryan O’Hayre was approached by seven-year-old Hunter Steffes, who handed him a thank-you message that also included a Starbucks gift card.
“Thank you for your service,” the message said. “You walk the thin blue line. Be safe and go home to your family. Don’t ever worry, I have your six.”
The Lakewood Police Department posted the message on its Facebook page and noted that O’Hayre later found out that Hunter is the grandson of a retired LPD detective.

O’Hayre and Steffes were featured on Fox News Friday, although the youngster was a little too shy for national television.
“I was standing in line and Hunter sort of boldly walked up to me and just handed it to me,” O’Hayre told host Maria Bartiromo. “He was pretty proud. And his parents should be very proud of him.”
