That’s right, a monk of the Dominican order in traditional white robes was identified by Hoosiers as a Klansman armed with a whip … or were those rosary beads?

“IU students be careful, there’s someone walking around in KKK gear with a whip,” a student posted on social media.

Dormitory resident assistant Ethan Gill also got caught up in the comedy of errors and began warning students on Facebook. He also referenced the alleged “whip” — in reality, it’s a long rosary that hangs down the length of the friar’s leg.

“Please PLEASE PLEASE be careful out there tonight,” he wrote, “always be with someone and if you have no dire reason to be out of your building, I would recommend staying indoors if you’re alone.”
