Cruz draws fire from CAIR; here’s what he said that was ‘beyond belief’

In the wake of the Brussels terrorist attacks, Senator Ted Cruz drew fire from the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) for proposing that America should “empower law enforcement to patrol and secure Muslim neighborhoods before they become radicalized.”

CAIR released a statement asserting that Cruz’s comments were “beyond belief” and should “disqualify someone from running for dogcatcher, much less president of the United States.”

In 2004, the Department of Justice designated CAIR to be an un-indicted co-conspirator in efforts to supply material support to Hamas terrorist activities against Israel through The Holy Land Foundation.

“While our friends and allies are attacked by radical Islamic terrorists, President Obama is spending his time going to baseball games with the Castros and standing at a press conference with Raul Castro as a prop, while Castro denies there are any political prisoners in Cuba,” Cruz said according to the The Washington Post.

The Texas senator also took aim at Donald Trump for his recent remarks that the United States should diminish its role in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and stated that “NATO should join with the United States in utterly destroying ISIS and I would note that NATO is ready to act in a way that our president is not.”

Cruz went on to emphasize that we are indeed at war with radical Islam and that this is no time to “embrace political correctness,” which he accused President Obama of doing.
