It wasn’t me! Bernie denies Trump’s claim, calls him a ‘pathological liar’

In response to Donald Trump calling him out for the violent protests in Chicago on Friday, Democratic presidential contender Bernie Sanders said his Republican rival is a “pathological liar.”

The Republican front-runner fingered Sanders on Saturday while talking about how his supporters were treated in the Windy City.

“They were taunted, they were harassed by these other people — by the way, some represented Bernie, our communist friend,” Trump said at a campaign event in Dayton, Ohio. “With Bernie, he should really get up and say to his people, ‘stop, stop.’ Not me.”

But Sanders pushed back, saying Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric is the culprit and he called on his Republican rival to “stop provoking violence,” according to The Republican.

“What caused the protests at Trump’s rally is a candidate that has promoted hatred and division against Latinos, Muslims, women and people with disabilities, and his birther attacks against the legitimacy of President Obama,” Sanders said. “What caused the violence at Trump’s rally is a campaign whose words and actions have encouraged it on the part of his supporters.”

Sanders released a statement on Saturday insisting that his campaign did not organize Friday’s protest.

“As is the case virtually every day, Donald Trump is showing the American people that he is a pathological liar,” the candidate said.

And he suggested that Trump is responsible for what happened for encouraging violence against protesters.

“When that is what the Trump campaign is doing, we should not be surprised that there is a response,” Sanders said.
