Need more proof that Donald Trump can bridge the divide between segments of the electorate?
Charles Evers, 93, the brother of slain civil rights leader Medgar Evers, said Trump is the right choice for America.
“I think he’s the best one right now,” Evers told The New York Post. “He’s someone like me: he speaks from the hip. He’s not a politician.”
The first black mayor in the history of Mississippi told the Post he believes Trump would improve the economy.
“We need more and more jobs. Unemployment is way up here,” Evers said. “He’s hired more employees, more people, than anyone I know in the world.”
As far as accusations that Trump is racist because he spoke out about illegal immigration, Evers isn’t buying it.
“I see nothing to show he is a racist,” he told the Post. “I don’t want any party to assume they’ve got all the black vote.
He expressed one reason he wouldn’t vote for Hillary Clinton.
“She got another problem trying keep (her husband) straight — how’s she gonna try to keep the country straight?” he asked.
Good question.
