A Florida teen was arrested and charged with practicing medicine without a license and setting up a fake medical practice.
After running an investigation of 18-year-oldĀ Malachi Love-Robinson, theĀ Palm Beach Narcotics Task Force arrested him for allegedly performing a physical exam on an undercover agent, the Palm Beach Post reported.
āA caller let us know that an 18-year-old man was posing as a 25-year-old doctor,ā said deputy health department spokesman Brad Dalton.
Although he did not prescribe any medication, Love-Robinson did offer medical advice at the West Palm Beach office he named “New Birth New Life Holistic and Alternative Medical Center & Urgent Care.” He also claimed to have aĀ Ph.D and to be a doctor of psychology, according to the Post.
TheĀ Florida Department of Health said Love-Robinson had previously been issued aĀ cease-and-desist order in October for allegedlyĀ running another medical practice in neighboring Boynton Beach.Ā The current office in West Palm Beach had been operating since at least January 26, though it isĀ unknown how many patients had been seen there.
Love-Robinson may also have pretended to be a doctor at a local hospital last year, according to an account given to the Post. He reportedly wandered the halls wearing a coat and carrying a stethoscope. Though no charges were filed at that time, his mother apparently said he was diagnosed with an illness and refused to take his medication.
