“Saturday Night Live” mocked white people for thinking the racist Super Bowl halftime performance by Beyoncé was … well, racist, and lampoons “the day they lost their damn white minds.”
Dismissing the offensive political statement as simply a byproduct of the pop star being black, the skit was aptly named “The Day Beyoncé Turned Black.”
Never mind the militant, anti-cop Black Panthers theme employed in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
“For white people, it was just another great week,” a voice-over is heard saying as the skit begins. “They never saw it coming. They had no warning. Then, the day before the Super Bowl, it happened.”
In a skillful attempt to distract from the fallout Beyoncé received over the inappropriate halftime performance, the skit focused on the recording artist’s song “Formation,” which she sang at the Super Bowl.
Struggling to understand the lyrics of the new song, buffoonish white people suddenly come to realize that Beyoncé is black and are seen running into the streets of an urban city in sheer panic, threatening to leave America.
Not finished with running interference for Beyoncé, the skit concluded with a pot shot at the more wholesome, respectful recording artist Taylor Swift.
“Mom, is Taylor Swift still white?” a young, scared white boy with a blanket pulled up to his chin asked his distraught mother.
