The erotic actress, who found herself embroiled in controversy when Ted Cruz‘s campaign pulled an ad she was featured in, said she understands why the campaign removed the ad.
Amy Lindsay spoke to CNN’s Jake Tapper on Friday and defended both Cruz and herself saying she still believed in his message, even though she has not officially endorsed anyone yet.
“I have no ill will against Ted Cruz right now. He’s got a job to do. I’m a middle class working girl and I had a job to do,” she said.
Tapper asked Lindsay, who describes herself as a conservative Christian, if she thought it was “un-Christian” of Cruz to pull the ad.
“I don’t think it’s un-Christian. I think this is politics as usual,” she told Tapper. “It was done in a snap moment. Someone has got to make a decision and sometimes it’s just better to take it down.”
The actress said Cruz remains in the running for her vote.
“When I did the ad and the words that came out of my mouth, I was a character. My character in the commercial was Sam, I believe but I was speaking from the heart about some of the issues that I think are true problems in this country that we as Americans are facing today,” she said. “I did believe in the message and I put it out there”
