While being interviewed at the Berlin International Film Festival, actor George Clooney once again became President Obama’s mouthpiece and remarked that the United States should take in more Syrian refugees.
Clooney indicated that he and his wife, Amal Clooney, spoke with German Chancellor Angela Merkel to discuss the refugee problem earlier that day.
The enthusiasm Merkel once had for accepting refugees from the war-torn areas of the Middle East has since dimmed as financial and social problems associated with the program continue to escalate.
“We just wanted to ask her what we can do, what our involvement should be, what Hollywood’s involvement should be, and what the United States should be doing as well,” he said.
“The United States needs to do more, as we know,” Clooney said. “10,000 refugees a year is not enough, that’s clear.”
That’s all fine and dandy for A-listers Clooney and spouse, who have residences in Italy, Mexico and England. If the situation becomes as much a sticky wicket here as it is in Germany, they have their choice of homesteads.
Absent that, he can always hire additional armed security as he bemoans the Second Amendment, private gun ownership and middle America’s love affair with weaponry.
Watch the clip.
All in all, social media wasn’t amused — not only with Clooney’s suggestion of admitting more refugees, but also with his belief that he has the background to discuss affairs of state with heads of state.
Shut up George Clooney. Why don't you take in a few hundred refugees? Your multiple homes could handle that #. https://t.co/cIzODZO1QP

@WalshFreedom @BreitbartNews Why we should all listen to George Clooney:

2. He's good at pretending to be other people— Unsafe Space (@joelfine) February 12, 2016

@PatDollard I love the pomp&circumstance of rich, elitist, hypocritical out-of-touch Hollywood libs. Y is (C)looney still relevant 2b news?!

@ianbremmer if he had any self awareness, he would see she is placating his status as a ‘knowledgeable’ leftist……she is innerly cringing

@ianbremmer Because he and Amal are such experts on refugees? And how many has he housed in Lago di Como?
