While the votes were still being counted in Iowa on Monday, Hillary Clinton delivered a speech that all but declared total victory.
The Democrat race was so close between Clinton and rival Bernie Sanders that a clear winner could not be declared right away. But Clinton said she was “breathing a sigh of relief” as she thanked Iowa in her “victory” speech.
Social media users reacted with confusion and amusement.

Surreal: @HillaryClinton speaking to cheering supporters without really saying she won — as Iowa Dems website says she is up .7

It appears Democrats have become so socialist that they evenly distribute their votes. #IowaCaucus

Clinton stopped shy of declaring a victory in her speech.

Hillary Clinton is incapable of finding the difference between yelling and passion. Perilously close to pulling a Howard Dean.

So Hillary Clinton says she was “breathing a sigh of relief” but didn’t declare victory, exactly.

Apparently, many were distracted not by the content of her speech but by its delivery.
Imagine 8 years of that screech.

@TheRickWilson @chris30542 I’d rather run my fingernails along a chalkboard than to listen to her!

And some Twitter users were focused on the real star of the night, and launched an audience member into instant social media fame.
