Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump opened his counter-event, in opposition to the GOP debate, with his customary braggadocio. Making reference to the large media coverage, he said, “This is like the Academy Awards!”
He made this statement after claiming that he’d just got off the phone with Fox News who were still wanting him to appear across town at the GOP presidential debate.
“They wanted me there and said, ‘How about now?’” he said.
He then claimed that he had more media coverage than what was at the Fox debate.
“This is the Academy awards,” Trump repeated. “We’re actually told that we have more cameras than they do by quite a bit.”
He repeated what he’d told CNN’s Brianna Keilar earlier, that Fox News had apologized to him.
