Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly gave what could be called a preview of coming attractions when she told an interviewer that she’ll continue to remain neutral on the subject of Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump.
“I can’t be wooed,” she said of Trump in a Vanity Fair interview. “I was never going to love him, and I was never going to hate him.”
Kelly is once again scheduled to co-moderate the next Fox News GOP debate, scheduled for January 28 in Des Moines, Iowa, four days before the Iowa Caucus.
Kelly also revealed that the real estate magnate curried her favor prior to the day he announced his presidential bid.
“He would send me press clippings about me that he would just sign ‘Donald Trump.’ And he called from time to time to compliment a segment,” she said.
“I didn’t know why he was doing that,” the “Kelly File” host added. “And then when he announced he was running for president, it became more clear.”
Kelly also revealed the process that led up to her first debate go-around with Trump that led the businessman to criticize her for days both on traditional and social media.
“I wrote it [and] I researched each line item myself. It was interesting to me after the debate when people when people started fact-checking my question,” Kelly told Vanity Fair.
“My own reaction was, ‘bring it on.’ You think I’d go out there and ask a question like that at the first GOP debate without making sure I was bulletproof on every single word?”
Kelly also revealed that although she was suffering from a violent illness prior to the debate, but she wasn’t going to let that stop her from moderating.
“I would have crawled over a pile of hot coals to make it to that debate,” she said. “No one was going to be sitting in for me, reading my questions.”
Kelly asks 12 of her toughest questions.
