What could prompt Chick-fil-A to disclose a recipe that has been kept secret for over 70 years?
Good old customer service, of course!
The fast-food restaurant chain responded to an upset customer on Facebook who was not happy that cole slaw will be removed from the menu as of January. Chick-fil-A explained that, though removing the product was a difficult decision, it was responding to customers who have been asking for healthier options.
In a kind of peace-offering, Chick-fil-A said it would make its recipe available so customers could make the slaw at home.
“Removing cole slaw from the menu was a difficult decision,” the Facebook reply said. “We know many of our customers loved our cole slaw, yet we have also heard from our customers that they are looking for new tastes and healthier ways to eat in our restaurants.”
I heard Chick-fil-A is dropping their excellent cole slaw in January! Is this true? I hope not! You already dropped the…

The company’s Facebook response continued:
“It is important to us to provide a wide variety of menu options and this will occasionally mean we have to remove one menu item to make room for another. We will be announcing some new items soon, and hope everyone will be as excited about them as we are. We will also provide our recipe for Cole Slaw via our social media channels so our customers may make the dish at home.”
Though the restaurant chain is known for its impeccable customer service, its decision to share a recipe to appease customers did not seem to be enough for some who reacted on social media.
@ChickfilA Are you really dropping cole slaw from the menu? Please noooo! I love getting the slaw instead of fries. Can’t you leave it on?

One Facebook user pointed out that perhaps the company should have considered adding other options instead of replacing customer favorites.
The official Chick-fil-A website currently has an “Ode to Cole Slaw” feature with the recipe.
