Watch NBC anchor try to blatantly whitewash Bill Clinton’s ‘alleged’ affair

Now that Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump made it clear that he’s going to go on the attack against former President Bill Clinton when he begins campaigning for his wife, NBC News is now pretending that the skeletons in his closet aren’t really there.

In an NBC News “Today Show” interview Tuesday, co-anchor Savannah Guthrie asked Trump about a tweet where he referenced a racist remark by the former president.

That refers to a remark Clinton had made to the late Sen. Ted Kennedy about then-candidate Barack Obama: “A few years ago, this guy would have been carrying our bags,” Clinton had said.

When Guthrie asked if Trump was calling Clinton a racist, he answered no, but that “he was called that by the Obama campaign” and as a result “he did very poorly” during his wife’s first presidential bid.

But it really got bizarre when she brought up Clinton’s affairs. She made reference to a tweet Trump sent out Monday:

When Guthrie asked Trump about this, he noted Clinton’s history of abusing women and brought up the names Monica Lewinsky and Paula Jones.

“You mention Monica Lewinsky,” Guthrie observed. “Are you saying an alleged extra-marital affair, that of course he has now admitted, is that fair game?”

“Is it alleged? I don’t think that’s alleged,” Trump pounced. …

“No, he’s admitted it, he’s admitted it,” Guthrie agreed.

“If he’s admitted it, you don’t have to use the word alleged,” Trump replied.

“Right, exactly,” Guthrie said. “Are you saying an extramarital affair by Bill Clinton is fair game, is something that you think should be in the campaign?”

Not only is the Clinton-Lewinsky “affair” a fact, but in many jurisdictions, any sexual act involving someone in a position of authority over the other person carries with it a presumption of sexual misconduct.

In this case, we have who is arguably the most powerful person in the free world and a young, lowly intern.

NBC has now devolved into the National Boosters for Clinton.
