Clint Eastwood weighs in on GOP presidential candidates

In a recent interview, legendary actor/director Clint Eastwood remarked that at least four Republican presidential candidates would make a better commander-in-chief than what we have at present.

Since Eastwood’s famous discussion with President Barack Obama’s chair at the 2012 Republican National Convention, it’s pretty well-known what his political stripes are.

With that in mind, “Extra’s” Mario Lopez asked him about the 2016 GOP presidential field.

“I haven’t made any selection ’cause there’s quite a few of them. I think there’s quite a few of them that are really good people.”

At that point, Lopez asked him about specific candidates, beginning with front-runner Donald Trump.

“It’s an unusual thing he’s done so far,” Eastwood said. “I think people are looking for somebody that’s outspoken and who isn’t afraid, and he seems to have a fearless attitude, he’s great.”

Then Eastwood commented on some of the other GOP candidates.

“I like Ben Carson ’cause he’s kind of a common sense guy and also doesn’t seem to be afraid, and Rubio, who I’ve met and I like very much, and Ted Cruz,” he said. “Any one of them would be better than we got.”
