Suffice it to say Pussy Riot group member Maria Alekhina is not a fan of Donald Trump and Americans really don’t care.
Not that anyone would expect a feminist punk rock band to back a Republican candidate for president.
Nevertheless, in response to Russian President Vladimir Putin describing Trump last week as “a really brilliant and talented person,” which was characterized by many as an endorsement, Alekhina went so far as to say that America will have its own Putin if the GOP front-runner is elected, according to the Huffington Post.
“If you want in your country to have your own Putin, you can vote for Donald Trump,” the Russian artist told the Huffington Post.

Pussy Riot has been a fierce critic of Putin’s and see him as a “dictator,” with Alekhina suggesting her country did not take him seriously in the beginning.
And she’s not keen on a Trump presidency.
“Everybody [is]Â joking about Donald Trump now, but it’s a very short way from joke to sad reality when you have a really crazy president speaking about breaking every moral and logic norm,” she said. “So I hope that he will not be president. That’s very simple.”
The committed liberal also didn’t think much about Trump’s right to free speech.
“You have to seriously think about giving a microphone and opportunity of public speaking to persons like Donald Trump,” Alekhina said of the media coverage the candidate commands. “Because we have so many serious problems, and to follow and comment [on] every word of this man is really not the best idea.”
Based on the reaction on social media, the band’s antics over the years have taken a serious toll on their credibility. Here’s a sampling of responses from Twitter:
@Mediaite This jobless loser ‘activist’ who has been in prison, thinks she’s a political analyst and psychic. Typical HuffPo/Mediaite moron.
