Donald Trump has a “secret strategy” to secure the Republican presidential nomination, according to Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly who believes the plan is working.

The host of “The Factor” said in his “Talking Points” segment Thursday that Trump’s campaign theme “is that the end justifies the means.”

“Trump wants to win,” O’Reilly said. “And he knows he cannot win by playing the standard political game.”

O’Reilly explained that the Republican front-runner, whom he described as the “ultimate outsider” as far as politics go, would have no shot at the candidacy if he ran his campaign as a standard politician.

By keeping attention on himself continually, Trump’s strategy is to starve out the other candidates, according to O’Reilly.

“With the media paying so much attention to Trump, you don’t know all that much about John Kasich or Rand Paul or Carly Fiorina,” O’Reilly said. “Trump is playing the electronic media, and the media loves it, because he delivers high ratings.”

“He sincerely believes most politicians are phonies who are not looking out for us” said O’Reilly, adding that Trump’s strategy is obviously working. He noted that many of Trump’s supporters want an “avenger” to blow up what they see as a corrupt system.

“Donald Trump knows the system’s corrupt, he understands the anger of the American people, he calculates that he can run on emotion and possibly win,” O’Reilly said. “And that is Donald Trump’s secret strategy.”
