Trump-Jeb fight gets overheated and uglier than ever

One of the more intense moments of Tuesday night’s CNN Republican presidential debate came when Republican front-runner Donald Trump and rival Jeb Bush squared off.

Bringing more energy that usual, Bush went right at Trump, saying he gets his foreign policy experience from the Sunday talk shows and insisted that the real estate tycoon is not a “serious kind of candidate.”

Take BPR’s poll: Who won CNN’s GOP presidential primary debate?

Trump answered by reminding viewers that Bush described illegal immigrants crossing into the United States as an “act of love,” comparing this to radical Islam and suggesting the former Florida governor is not tough enough to keep the country safe.

“We need toughness,” Trump said. “I think Jeb is a very nice person. He’s a very nice person, but we need tough people. We need toughness. We need intelligence and we need tough. Jeb said when they come across the southern border they come as an act of love.”

The two really went at each other at this point, with each talking over the other.

“Am I talking or are you talking, Jeb?” Trump asked.

“I’m talking right now,” Bush replied. “I’m talking.”

“You’re not talking, you interrupted me,” Trump said. “Are you going to apologize, Jeb? No.”

Trump turned to debate moderator Wolf Blitzer to ask if he’s allowed to finish his answer.

“A little of your own medicine there, huh?” Bushed jeered.

Trump got the last word in the exchange, saying: “With Jeb’s attitude, we will never be great again, that I can tell you,” he said.
