An Iowa man has stirred controversy with a sign telling people not to give money to two beggars.
A man only referred to as Mike said he saw the two men begging for money with a sign that read “Broke and hungry” and offered them jobs which they promptly refused, the Daily Mail reported.
Shortly thereafter Mike came back with his own sign that read “Offered these guys a job. They said no. Don’t give money.”
The picture was posted to Facebook by someone named Michael Wooldridge who said the man who offered the job was his uncle, according to the Mail.
He said when his uncle arrived with his sign the beggars moved but his uncle followed them to another spot.
Some online have praised the man for combating what they believe are scam artists while others believe the entire thing may be some sort of social experiment.
“There’s nothing wrong with somebody getting money by asking,” one Facebook user said.
