Sen Sessions delivers magnificent rebuttal to ‘right-to-migrate’; ‘Amen times 10,000’

Sen. Jeff Sessions delivered a magnificent rebuttal Thursday to a right-to-migrate amendment offered in the Senate Judiciary Committee, earning the Alabama Republican an “Amen times 10,000” by conservative author and columnist, Michelle Malkin.

The amendment, approved 16-4, was introduced by Sen. Patrick Leahy.

It was the Vermont Democrat’s claim “that the United States must not bar individuals from entering into the United States based on their religion, as such action would be contrary to the fundamental principles on which this Nation was founded.”

This was an obvious response to a proposal advanced by Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump to temporarily halt Muslim immigration given recent acts of terror both here and abroad.

Sessions was one of the four senators who voted against the amendment, arguing that the rights of American citizens must be superior to those of foreign nationals.

“With regards to immigration, it is the job of Congress to defend the rights and well-being of American citizens,” Sessions began. “That means we must look at how immigration is impacting Americans in their wages, in their salaries, in their national security.”

Here’s Sessions rebuttal.

Malkin tweeted:

And a lot of people on social media were in total agreement.

In November, Sen. Ted Cruz called for a total halt of Syrian refugee resettlement in the United States. Earlier this week, he submitted a proposal that would give individual state governors the power to block the resettlement of refugees within their borders.
