A Florida gun shop owner who declared his business a “Muslim Free Zone” is offering the same service to individuals. He’s selling “Muslim Free Zone” signs to customers, and it’s driving the Council on American-Islamic Relations right up the wall.
“What we are finding is that people are afraid of radical Islam. They are afraid of political correctness,” Andy Hallinan, owner of Florida Gun Supply in Citrus County, told Tampa Bay ABC affiliate WFTS.
He said he’d received thousands of calls and emails after declaring his shop to be Muslim free.
“And for every one person who disagrees with us, we have what seems like 300 or 400 that are in support,” he said.
After announcing the sale of signs to the public, the store was put on an “Islamophobia watch” by CAIR’s national headquarters. The organization tweeted:

After Hallinan displayed the “Muslim Free Zone” sign at his business, the Department of Justice announced that it would investigate and CAIR filed a lawsuit.
Late last month, U.S. District Court Judge Beth Bloom tossed CAIR’s discrimination lawsuit against the shop owner, ruling that his actions were within his First Amendment freedom of expression rights.
Which apparently left CAIR with one option: To initiate an Islamophobia watch, whatever that means.
