Florida police chiefs will back revised open-carry bill – Acknowledging “momentum” behind a proposal that would allow people with concealed-weapons licenses to openly carry guns, the Florida Police Chiefs Association said Thursday its board of directors had voted to back the controversial measure — as long as changes designed to protect law-enforcement officers are included. Despite redistricting, Negron pledges to maintain GOP’s Senate edge – An intra-Republican leadership fight filled with turmoil and a pending redistricting case that could give Democrats more chances to pick up seats in 2016 isn’t getting Sen. Joe Negron down. The Stuart Republican says he’s committed to keeping the GOP’s 26-14 edge in the state Senate. “I do not intend to give up one inch of political territory this election cycle,” Negron said. Read more

Finance reports reveal biggest election battles brewing in the Florida Legislature – With less than a year until the November 2016 elections, campaign finance records released Thursday already show where the biggest battles for Florida Legislature seats are developing.
