Obama, you’re ‘out of your mind’ . . . Kurt Russell just confirmed

Legendary film star Kurt Russell pushed hard against liberal Hollywood’s obsession with gun control, telling an interviewer who tried to connect the San Bernardino shooting with America’s so-called “gun culture” that he was out of his mind, and that such thinking is “absolutely insane.”

Hollywood Elsewhere” interviewer Jeffery Wells began by discussing Russell’s latest role in a soon-to-be-released Quentin Tarantino film, “The Hateful Eight.” Given the violence that has become a hallmark of Tarantino’s films, he brought up the issue of gun control.

“If you think gun control is going to change the terrorists’ point of view, I think you’re, like, out of your mind,” Russell told Wells.

“I think anybody [who says that] is. I think it’s absolutely insane.”

Russell likened a good guy with a gun at the scene of a mass shooting to a hockey player being pummeled.

“Dude, you’re about to find out what I’m gonna do, and that’s gonna worry you a lot more,” he told Wells. “And that‘s what we need. That will change the concept of gun culture, as you call it, to something [like] reality. Which is, if I’m a hockey team and I’ve got some guy bearing down on me as a goal tender, I’m not concerned about what he’s gonna do — I’m gonna make him concerned about what I’m gonna do to stop him. That‘s when things change.”

Wells then brought up President Barack Obama’s statement that people on the no-fly list shouldn’t be able to purchase firearms. But Russell wasn’t having it.

“They can also make a bomb pretty easily,” the actor said. “So what? They can also get knives and stab you. Whaddaya gonna do about that? They can also get cars and run you over. Whaddaya gonna do about that?”

When Wells suggested that we “just put some controls” in, Russel interrupted him.

“Put some controls?” he shot back. “What, so the people, so the people who want to defend themselves can’t?”

When Wells corrected him and said he wanted controls so that “the idiots” can’t get them, Russell set him straight — illegal guns are available in the streets of any large city.

“You really believe they’re not going to?” he asked. “Are you serious about that? What good will that…? Oh my God, you and I just disagree.”

Wells referred to the meeting between interviewer and interviewee as “Mellow Wells vs. irked Russell.”

I can’t attest to the “mellow” part, but to say Russell was “irked” was probably an understatement.
