A video mocking both President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry was released Thursday by the Kremlin-funded media outlet, Russia Today, known as RT.
Actors portray both men 20 years down the road, meeting as old friends in the year 2035. The video marks RT’s 10th anniversary.
“So, what’s new?” the man portraying Obama, now 74, asks while sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch of a humble farmhouse.
“Got my new teeth,” the elderly Kerry replies with a smile.
“In the world, John,” the fake Obama corrects him.
“Oh, apart from the fact that no one is afraid of us anymore?” Kerry asks. “There’s nothing new, sir.”
When the fake Kerry asks “can two old friends have a drink at least?” the actor portraying Obama reprises, the 2008 campaign slogan.
“Yes,” he says. “Yes we can.”
As he carefully makes his way into the kitchen to retrieve the drinks from the refrigerator, a TV announcer can be heard saying “President of the United States Edward Snowden has announced a new era of transparency for the NSA.”
In early July, Russian President Vladimir Putin told Obama that he wanted a dialogue based on equality and mutual respect.
Evidently, that’s the end of that.
