Despite recent and unrelenting criticism, police officers rushed to the scene and into the building where the San Bernardino shootings had just occurred.
At least 14 lives were taken and 17 more injured during the massacre on Wednesday. Compelling footage emerged showing people calmly being escorted from their offices to the elevators.
As Inland Regional Center workers filed past a man giving instruction, who appears to be a police officer, he gave the presumed strangers a selfless piece of mind.
“Try to relax, try to relax. I’ll take a bullet before you do, that’s for damn sure,” the officer said. “Just be cool, OK?”
The workers looked visibly anxious, but remained calm. Two women held the hand of a toddler as they made their way through the long hallway only to join a crowd of co-workers on the landing to wait for the elevators.
Gabi Flores, Consumer Services Coordinator shot the video that was later posted KPCC radio’s Facebook page with her permission. It is a true testament to the bravery and sacrifice police officers exhibit every day.
