A man wearing a “Rebel” baseball cap and holding a large Confederate flag was tossed from a Donald Trump campaign rally in Manassas, Virginia.
The unidentified man was asked to leave Wednesday at the behest of the Trump campaign, according to Jon Ward, senior political correspondent for Yahoo! Politics.
A reporter with The Guardian, Ben Jacobs, repeated the charge, but the campaign has not confirmed that they were responsible for the guy getting thrown out.

The Republican front-runner’s critics were quick to question his stance against political correctness … or use the incident as a prop to reinforce their claim that Trump’s a racist.
Back in June, when South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley called for the Confederate flag to be removed from the State Capitol, Trump was supportive of the decision.

“I would take it down, yes,” he said at the time. “I think they should put it in a museum and respect whatever it is you have to respect.”
But is there more to Wednesday’s incident?
Some on social media smelled a rat, questioning whether the man was a plant — a political operative paid to make Trump look bad:

@Bencjacobs @wpjenna These flags started appearing right after the BLM activist was “roughed up”. Visuals were pretty bad!

Though one user had a more plausible — and less controversial — reason why the man may have been asked to leave:
Confederate flag guy has been booted from the Trump rally for breaking the NO SIGNS rule. Not even pro-Trump signs are allowed. #Manassas
