‘Pray for us’: Dad’s emotional text from daughter hiding under desk one of many

Eyewitnesses to Wednesday’s horrific shooting at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino are describing in chilling detail how 14 people attending a Christmas party were murdered and another 17 injured.

Denise Peraza, 27, was one of the attendees at the party, and like Syed Rizwan Farook, one of the named suspects in the shooting, is an an environmental health specialist for San Bernardino county.

She told relatives that she hid under a desk when the shooting spree began, but was hit in the lower back, according to The Los Angeles Times.

“Everyone dropped to the floor,” she said, according to The Times. “The guys opened fired for 30 seconds, randomly, then paused to reload and began firing again.”

She remained under the desk for five minutes after the shooting, when police arrived.

Holly, an employee at the building described to her father what was happening as it happened in text messages.

“Dad shooting at my work, shot people in office,” she texted her father, Terry Petit, according to KCAL9 News. “Waiting for cops to catch him. Pray for us”

He replied yo her, “Hide. Find a good spot. Hide now.”

She answered back, “I am but we are locked in an office. Cops SWAT helicopter, everything here.”
